Becoming an independent assessor
From time to time the Appointments Commission needs to recruit new assessors and advertises vacancies in the press.
Applicants are required to complete an application form and undertake a selection and approval process.
All independent assessors will be expected to undergo training and accreditiation before taking part in selection panels on behalf of the Commission.
There are currently no vacancies for Independent Assessors with the Commission.
Qualities required
Independent assessors will need to be familiar with recruitment process and selection techniques and have a range of other attributes which will enable them to fulfil their function. Full details will be in the application pack.
Restrictions
To ensure their independence a number of restrictions apply to assessors.
- Within the last 12 months independent assessors should not have been employed by the NHS or Department of Health or other bodies to which the Appointments Commission makes appointments.
- Independent assessors should not hold, or have held and left within the last 12 months, an appointment in one of the public bodies to which the Appointments Commission makes appointments.
