Public appointments

The reason that we have public bodies is to involve the public in the process of advising on policies and delivering services which affect us all as citizens.

All public bodies need members of the general public to serve on them. Some appointments need people with special knowledge or experience. Others need people with an everyday experience of life.

The time commitment varies considerably between appointments; some may be three days a week, others may be only six times a year. Some appointments are paid, others are not.

A public appointment gives you an opportunity to be involved in some of the decisions which affect you and your community in your daily lives.
