Our recruitment and selection processes
We aim to ensure that as many people as possible know about the opportunities to be considered for public appointments. In most instances we do this through advertising. We also use other means, including our mailing list , local and national networks. Everyone is expected to fill in an application form. All applications are considered by an expert panel which includes an independent assessor, whose job is to ensure all decisions are made fairly. If you are one of the better applicants you will be interviewed by the same expert panel. The panel decide who are the best candidates and make recommendations to the appointing authority.
For appointments sponsored by the Department of Health (such as most NHS posts) the appointing authority is the Appointments Commission.
For public appointments outside the Department of Health, the final decision is usually made by a Government Minister from the recommendations of the selection panel.
Appointments undertaken for Foundation Trusts may follow a different process.
