NHS Trusts, PCTs and Strategic Health Authorities
If you are appointed as a board chair you can expect to spend 3 – 3½ days per week fulfilling your role for which you will receive remuneration in the range £17,773 to £60,780 depending on the size of the organisation.
If you are appointed as a non-executive then you are recommended to spend 2½ days per month on your role, for which you will receive an annual remuneration of between £5,875 and £7,598.
If you are appointed as a chair of audit committee of a PCT you will receive an annual remuneration of £12,663.
The remuneration is taxable and subject to National Insurance, but is not pensionable.
If you are appointed, you will be able to claim expenses for travel and subsistence incurred in carrying out your duties. If you have caring responsibilities then expenses to provide cover for these responsibilities can be re-imbursed to allow you to undertake your board duties.
